IHC Sealing Solutions, part of Netherlands-based IHC Merwede, is to launch the zero-pollution SUPREME Athmos seal at the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam, which will be held from 5-8 November 2013.

The sustainable conscious SUPREME Athmos seal will prevent ships from emitting oil into the environment, with limited draught of up to approximately five metres.

Water is prevented from entering the system by collecting any leakages from the seal into a drain tank. Once full, this tank is automatically drained into the vessel’s general waste oil tank.

IHC Sealing Solutions marketing manager Dustin van Horik said that in addition to the standard working principle of keeping oil in and water out of ships, the unique SUPREME Athmos seal delivers many more benefits to ship owners.

"Our research shows that the market demands zero pollution and we’re delighted to introduce a sustainable solution that meets this requirement," van Horik added.

Formed in 1856, IHC Sealing Solutions has produced more than 30,000 products, which are being used by a wide network of propulsion manufacturers and ship owners.
