Incat Crowther has secured a contract from Guayaquil, Ecuador-based shipbuilder Astinave EP for the supply of vessel design services and aluminium component kits for two 22.5m monohull crewboats, which are presently being constructed for an undisclosed client.

The vessels will operate in support of Flota Petrolera Ecuatoriana (Flopec), Ecaudor’s state-owned oil and gas company.

The 20k crewboats will feature two Cummins QSK19 marine engines, rated at 750bhp at 1800rpm, driving Teignbridge fixed pitch NiBrAl propellers. Electrical power will be supplied by two Cummins 55MDDCM generator sets. They will have tank capacities of 11,000l of fuel oil and 7,000l of potable water.

The crew accommodations resting ahead of the engine room will have private staterooms for three crew members, with each room featuring a locker cabinet for storage. A galley, mess area and washroom will complete the crew accommodations.

The main deck will comprise of a 40m² cargo deck covered in hardwood planking and a passenger cabin that will have twenty five seats, two water closets, luggage shelves, two storage lockers, and a deck locker.

The upper deck will feature a pilothouse, complete with forward and aft-facing helm positions and a chart table. Two inflatable life rafts will be aft of the wheelhouse, and arranged for easy launching.

Incat Crowther claimed that supply of the aluminium kits represents another capability outside of its proven vessel design capabilities.

Processed by US-based suppliers, the kits are being shipped sea-freight from Houston to Guayaquil.

Construction of the vessels is scheduled for October.
