Keppel to perform FPSO conversion for Indonesia’s Armada Madura

Keppel Offshore & Marine has received contracts worth S$125m ($89.48m) to carry out a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) conversion as well as repair, upgrade and modification.

Keppel Offshore & Marine has received contracst worth S$125m ($89.48m) to carry out a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) conversion as well as repair, upgrade and modification.

Keppel will perform FPSO conversion project for Indonesia’s Armada Madura EPC, a joint venture between Bumi Armada and Shapoorji Pallonji.

Keppel O&M Marine & Technology managing director Michael Chia said: "This is our third conversion / upgrading project for the joint venture.

"We are confident that this FPSO will be as successful as our first two FPSOs, Armada Sterling and Armada Sterling II."

"We are confident that this FPSO will be as successful as our first two FPSOs, Armada Sterling and Armada Sterling II, which have been performing excellently at the D1 field and Cluster 7 field in India respectively."

The FPSO conversion is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2016 and after the delivery, it will produce for the Madura Strait Block BD.

In another development, Keppel secured repair, upgrade and modification contracts from Totem Ocean, Dolphin and Saipem Offshore.

The contract with Totem Ocean will see the world’s first conversion of a large roll-on / roll-off cargo vessel, Midnight Sun, to operate on a dual-fuel diesel LNG propulsion system.

After the conversion, the vessel will benefit from less greenhouse gas emissions, reduced emissions of particulate matter by 91%, nitrogen oxides by 100%, sulphur oxides by 90% and carbon dioxide by 35%.

Keppel will carry out work for a drillship of Dolphin Drilling, Belford Dolphin, including renewal survey and modification, while the company will perform refurbishment and upgrading works for Saipem Offshore.
