Norway-based Kleven Maritime has won a contract from an unnamed ship-owner to build a high-specification expedition support vessel suitable for long journeys in rough waters.
Marin Teknikk will be responsible for the design of the new vessel, which will have a length of 107m and will be capable of accommodating 60 people.

Kleven Verft shipyard in Ulsteinvik, Norway, will build the new vessel to comply with the latest Passenger Yacht Code rules, adapted for larger yachts with more than 12 passengers.
Marin Teknikk CEO Svein Rune Gjerde said the company was contacted by the ship-owner a year ago to provide the design for an expedition support vessel.
"It has been exciting to be able to utilise the know-how of our employees to develop a luxury vessel of this type, which is being constructed for a rather different use than the offshore vessels we usually work with on a daily basis," Gjerde said.
Kleven CEO Ståle Rasmussen said: "The shipowners chose us because they wanted Norwegian design and construction at Norwegian shipyards, due to quality standards, delivery times and price."
