Kleven Maritime has won a NOK700m ($116.86m) order from Atlantic Offshore to build two platform supply vessels (PSV).

In addition to the two PSVs, the order also has an option for a third vessel.

The vessels will be based on the company’s VS 485 MKIII L design and built at Kleven Maritime’s Myklebust Verft shipyard in Ulsteinvik, Norway.

Designed by Finland-based marine solution provider Wartsila, each vessel will have a length of 90m and a deck area of 1000m².

The PSVs are scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter and third quarter of 2014.

Upon delivery, they will be chartered to Statoil under a long-term contract will be operated in the North Sea.

Atlantic Offshore CEO Roy Wareberg said that in selecting the yard, the company has emphasised quality and competitive terms.

"Kleven Maritime has built more ships with the same design, and is the shipyard that has built most ships with the Wartsila design," Wareberg said.

Both vessels will be equipped with the latest in technological installations and meet all certification and environmental specifications.

The vessels will be designed to consume less energy and operate economically, meeting rigorous environmental regulations for offshore operations.

Kleven currently has 14 vessels in the order book, at a total value of NOK6.8bn ($1.13bn).

In June 2012, the company won a NOK600m ($101m) contract from Norway-based ship owner Olympic Shipping to build a subsea support and construction vessel.

Designed by Marin Teknikk in Norway, the vessel will be built to MT 6022 MK II design.
