Cargotec subsidiary MacGregor has secured a contract from Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven to deliver six comprehensive deck-handling equipment packages.

MacGregor will install the equipment on six new-generation, anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels for Maersk Supply Service.

In October this year, Kleven received a contract from Maersk Supply Service to construct six Salt Ship Design anchor-handling vessels. The order also includes an option for four additional vessels.

Under the latest contract, MacGregor will supply Triplex 42 multi-deck handlers, shark jaws, towing pins and huge Hatlapa stern rollers with SWL 1,250t for each vessel.

"Having Triplex and Hatlapa products in MacGregor’s offshore product portfolio ensures that both the yard and owner."

The contract also includes an option to equip the additional four vessels.

Delivery of the systems is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2015 and will be completed by the second quarter of 2017.

MacGregor Offshore Segment senior vice-president Pasi Lehtonen said: "We are proud that Kleven and Maersk Supply Service, a leading shipowner in the offshore industry, have trusted MacGregor to deliver key systems for these new vessels.

"Having Triplex and Hatlapa products in MacGregor’s offshore product portfolio ensures that both the yard and owner benefit from the advantages of integrated equipment packages supplied by a single company."

In November, MacGregor received a comprehensive deck equipment contract from China’s New Times Shipyard for installation on Cyprus-based Intership Navigation’s three new 36,500dwt Laker-class bulk carriers.
