Finland-based Neste’s shipping subsidiary has signed an agreement to lease energy management solutions from Marorka.

The technology will be installed in chartered vessels of Neste Shipping in order to improve the energy-efficiency of the company’s tanker fleet.

Neste chartering operations manager Jacob Granqvist said: "Neste has been through a rigorous vetting process assessing a number of different service providers before choosing Marorka as our preferred supplier.

"The Marorka energy management solution will enable Neste to focus on optimising the energy-efficiency of their entire chartered fleet based on accurate, real-time data."

Marorka’s system will help Neste Shipping charter vessels to collect onboard, real-time data and monitor performance.

In addition, Neste Shipping will use Marorka Online to monitor fleet performance. The single, decision-support system allows performance data to be viewed and analysed in real-time.

"Marorka energy management solution will enable Neste to focus on optimising the energy-efficiency of their entire chartered fleet."

The energy management solution will be leased on a subscription basis with additional service packages, the company stated.

The current leasing agreement covers all hardware and software, and includes customer and advisory services.

Marorka CEO Ole Skatka Jensen said: "Moreover, with this new contract, Marorka is delivering superior data systems through ‘energy management solutions as a service’.

"This means that the data systems will be provided on a lease for the duration of the contract. Additional service packages, including implementation, training and advisory services, will ensure that our customers enjoy the highest reliability, viability and flexibility."

These developments will help Neste improve energy-efficiency, minimise greenhouse gas emissions and gain significant fuel savings. The technology will also enhance the overall performance and competitiveness of Neste’s fleet.
