Poly Shield Technologies has signed an agreement with LMS Shipmanagement, a subsidiary of International Shipholdings (ISH), for the certification and installation of its DSOX-15 Fuel Purification System on two vessels.
The contract also covers installation of DSOX-15 systems on up to an additional 40 ships.
Poly Shield CEO Rasmus Norling said: "This Development Agreement with LMS is a significant step forward in achieving our Company’s business goals and allowing Poly Shield Technologies Inc. to demonstrate it’s DSOX-15 Fuel Purification System’s capabilities in a real world environment."
Expected to comply with new sulfur emission rules set to be effective in January 2015, the DSOX-15 system is aimed at removing sulfur content from fuel used by vessels.
DSOX-15 can also remove other harmful alkali metals such as vanadium, sodium and calcium.
The system works by creating an emulsion of fuel and process water, which is injected into the unit under high pressure while it releases the Sulfur from the fuel allowing it to mix with water.
