Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract to deliver waterjets to two Spanish Police Guardia Civil 20m patrol boats, which will be constructed by Astilleros Gondan Shipyard.

The stainless steel series waterjets provide high fuel efficiency with towing capability, acceleration and durability.

"Rolls-Royce waterjet technology offers a combination of speed, efficiency and excellent manoeuvrability for these vessels."

Rolls-Royce general sales manager (Spain) Jose Antonio Losada said: "Rolls-Royce waterjet technology offers a combination of speed, efficiency and excellent manoeuvrability for these vessels, which will regularly operate in challenging sea conditions."

Under this contract, Rolls-Royce also provides its compact control system for waterjets and it will be tested in the company facility for a quick installation.

Separately, Rolls-Royce has received a £7m contract to deliver design, integrated power and propulsion systems and equipment for an offshore service vessel (OSV) of Norwegian ship owner Island Offshore.

The new offshore service vessel will feature an integrated power and propulsion system incorporating main engines, reduction gears, controllable pitch propellers, bow and stern thrusters, steering gears, deck machinery, dry bulk system and an automation and control system.

Norway’s VARD shipyard in Brevik will construct the vessel that is expected to be delivered in January 2016.

Island Offshore awarded an order for two Rolls-Royce designed vessels to the VARD shipyard in March this year and the vessels are scheduled for the delivery in 2015.
