Rolls-Royce has secured a contract worth more than £11m from Norway-based shipbuilder Kleven to design and equip two fishing stern trawlers.
Kleven received orders for new fishing vessels from German company DFFU, a subsidiary of the Icelandic seafood firm Samherji.

Under the contract, Rolls-Royce will be responsible for delivering equipments such as main engines, thrusters, automation, and winches, along with the NVC 374 wave-piercing design.
The new 80m-long vessels feature hulls of ICE 1A-class to offer better operational efficiency, low emissions, crew comfort, safety, and excellent seakeeping capabilities.
Samherji Group CEO Torstein Mar Baldvinson said: "A huge improvement in the working and living conditions for our crew is a main objective for making this commitment.
"As well as fulfilling significant environmental criteria, we are confident that these vessels, designed and built in Norway, will take the company and its employees into a positive future development."

By GlobalDataThe vessels will feature an onboard factory for the production of fish fillets and it will have a storage capacity of 1,400m³. In addition, the trawlers will benefit from a 550m³ packaging and freezer room on-deck.
Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine president John Knudsen said: "Our design and equipment will help ensure that this will be among the most effective and modern fishing vessels in the world.
"Both vessels will be equipped with our latest B33:45 engine and they will be the first among fishing vessels to feature our wave-piercing bow design."
Kleven’s Myklebust Verft in Norway is expected to deliver the vessels in February and June 2017.
