Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC has won a contract from India-based Adani Group to deliver two IHCBeagle 8 trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs).

The two IHC Beagle TSHDs will add to Adani’s existing fleet of IHC-built cutter suction dredgers (CSDs).

The 8000m³ vessels are a part of standardised IHC Beagle series, designed and manufactured by IHC replicating their dredging experience.

The vessels are equipped with IHC’s Trailspeed Controller (TSC) and Eco Pump Controller (EPC).

The TSC is said to ensure a consistency of speed while resulting to a higher volume of production and the ESC will reduce the chances of cavitation, as well as wear and tear while curbing the consumption of fuel.

The design allows the vessel to be deployed either during construction or at a later stage attuned to its specific needs.

Its range of services includes capital dredging; shore pumping; and rainbowing under the most challenging of conditions.

The delivery of the vessels will entail an assistance and training package to be offered by the Royal IHC including Planned Maintenance System and spare parts package.

"The fact that they also requested a portfolio of services and training demonstrates that our customer also values IHC’s extensive knowledge and experience."

IHC CEO Bram Roelse said: "The fact that they also requested a portfolio of services and training demonstrates that our customer also values IHC’s extensive knowledge and experience.

"We are happy to share this with them to enable them to continue growing."

Royal IHC had earlier launched and delivered the trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Jun Yang 1 for CCCC Guangzhou Dredging (GDC) at its shipyard in Kinderdijk, the Netherlands.

GDC awarded the TSHD contract to IHC in November 2012, specifying the design, construction and delivery requirements.
