Sweden-based Sea IT has signed a four year information and communications technology (ICT) contract with Maersk Tankers to install BlueCORE technology across all the vessels.
Under the contract, Sea IT will incorporate a customised version of their flagship product BlueCORE technology to fit Maersk Tankers’ global business operations and high security standards.
BlueCORE is a complete IT system, including Wi-Fi, to be equipped across approximately 100 vessels, operated globally by Maersk Tankers.
With the incorporation of the solution on-board, Maersk Tankers will be able to remotely control its fleet.
The solution is convenient to use and can be tailored in accordance to fleet-specific business processes to reduce operational costs and to promote maximum operational efficiency by leveraging all the available IT resources on-board.
It facilitates an easy integration between the crew on-board and offices at the shore.

By GlobalDataMaersk Tankers IT Governance and project portfolio manager Thomas Landwehr said: "With our version of BlueCORE onboard, we can regard our fleet as remote office locations with real-time, on-line access to our internal applications.
"It is a cost efficient, modular platform which supports Maersk Tankers business objectives.
"Now Maersk Tankers can integrate and structure all programs from various departments, from technical and operations; chartering; health safety environment & quality, to human resources and third parties for fuel consumption, sea chart updates and more."
Sea IT will begin installation of the technology this year and is expected to be completed next year.
Alongside the installation, Sea IT will also act as the second line support collaborating with Maersk Tankers’ support team in Manila, providing a round-the-clock hardware and software emergency support.
Last month, Sea IT entered into a long term ICT agreement with Veritas Tankers to install its BlueCLOUD Office platform at Veritas Tankers’ headquarters.
