ST Engineering’s marine arm, ST Marine, has won a S$179m ($143m) contract for the construction of two offshore support vessels (OSVs) and vessel repair work.

Under the deal, two OSVs will be built at ST Marine’s VT Halter Marine shipyard for Hornbeck Offshore Services (Hornbeck) at a cost of S$111m ($89m).

The two vessels are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2014 and the first quarter of 2015.

Planned to be built on VT Halter Marine’s Super 320 design, the DP2 OSVs will have a deck area of 1,136m² and will be capable of carrying 20,800 barrels of liquid mud.

The recent OSV order follows a November 2011 contract from Hornbeck for the construction of eight OSVs worth S$441m ($353m), which included options for up to 24 additional similar vessels.

The vessels are scheduled to be delivered between October 2013 and September 2014.

All the vessels will be built in VT Halter Marine’s yards at Moss Point Marine and Halter Moss Point in Mississippi.

ST Marine has also secured S$68m ($55m) worth of contracts for vessel repair and upgrade work, from undisclosed customers.

Work will include repairs and upgrades to various types of OSVs like drillships and dredgers, as well as a rig that is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2013.
