Tero Marine, a Norway-based marine IT firm, has signed a five-year contract with RK Offshore Management to install its TM Master software on 26 RK Offshore supply vessels.
The contract may extend to an additional 15 vessels, according to Tero Marine.
The agreement allows RK Offshore to lease the software from Tero Marine for a fixed annual sum.
The TM Master application facilitates complex fleet management operations including crewing, maintenance, purchasing and stock control.
According to RK Offshore technical manager Rupesh Tiwari, the advantage of the lease agreement is fixed and more predictable operating costs.
"This gives us greater flexibility, as it means we do not have to make a heavy investment in advance," Tiwari said.
Tero Marine technical manager Satish Kanakasabai said the company aims to ensure the process is as error-free as possible.
"For the system to deliver optimum performance from the word go, we make sure everyone using the software is properly trained first," Kanakasabai said.
Commenting on the partnership, Tero Marine managing director Jan Erik Hårvei said the contract with RK Offshore is an important step in the right direction for the company, and shows it is able to attract different organisations on the market when leasing its software.
Tero Marine has already started deploying the TM Master software on RK ships and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2013.
