As per the deal, NYK and MOL will also be responsible for ship management.
The containment system allows for maximum use of the space inside the hull and free designing of the hull shape for best fuel consumption.
The LNG vessels will be equipped with tri fuel diesel electric propulsion systems that enable low-sulphur oil or gas use to be within the US emission control regulations.
The vessels will be designed to transit through the Panama Canaland and be used for transporting LNG for US Cove Point project.
The vessels will have a tank capacity of 165,000m³ and travel at a service speed of 19.5kt.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2017 and will take Tokyo LNG Tanker’s fleet of LNG vessels to twelve.
