The TT Club, a global transport and logistics insurance provider, is set to provide liability cover for DP World London Gateway, a new deep-sea container port that recently opened in the UK.

With 45 years of experience in providing liability and asset insurance coverage for ports and terminals across the world, the TT Club has the ability to underwrite the risk posed by the London Gateway facility, which can handle a capacity of 3.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).

The insurer provides coverage for both container handling ships and other types of cargo ships.

The port has a logistics park with 2,700m of quayside that offers the latest technology and infrastructure for shipping lines, including the ultra large container ships (ULCS) that are up to 400m long and can carry more than 18,000 containers.

Located in Stanford-le-Hope in Essex in the South East of England, the newly opened hub will reduce exporters and importers transport and supply-chain costs and provide global businesses with an efficient shipping gateway.

Commenting on the opening of London Gateway, TT Club CEO Charles Fenton said that they have worked with DP World throughout its network of global terminals and are grateful to them for the opportunity to continue their partnership.

"London Gateway promises to be a very significant addition to the UK’s transport infrastructure located where it is, at the heart of the country’s largest consumer market," Fenton added.

"We are proud to be associated with yet another milestone in the ever-expanding container handling sector."

In addition to London Gateway, the TT Club also insures other global network of ports owned by DP World.
