Celebrity Edge is a new Edge-class cruise ship built by STX France for Celebrity Cruises, a part of Royal Caribbean Cruises. Celebrity Cruises signed a letter of intent for the construction of new Edge-class cruise ships in December 2014.

The first steel for the first ship in the class was cut at the STX France shipyard in November 2016. The vessel was delivered in October 2018, while the second ship in class, Celebrity Beyond, is scheduled for delivery in mid-2020.

Celebrity Edge cruise ship design and features

The new Celebrity Edge cruise ship features a cutting-edge design developed by Nate Berkus. The unique outward facing design distinguishes the ship from traditional cruise ships. The design integrates Magic Carpet, the world’s first cantilevered floating platform.

The Magic Carpet features plush seating, a full bar, and a space for live music. The transformable platform serves different purposes based on its positioning.

On the upper deck of the ship, food is served at Dinner on the Edge, while Deck 14 serves as an extension of the swimming pool, and Deck 5 transforms into an open-air dining venue. The Magic Carpet extends the Destination Gateway at Deck 2.

The ship has a length of 306m, beam of 39m, draught of 8.2m and gross tonnage of 129,500t. It has the capacity to accommodate 2,908 passengers. The cruise speed of the vessel is 21.8k.

Celebrity Edge staterooms

Accommodation units on board the vessel are categorised into AquaClass veranda staterooms and Concierge Class staterooms. AquaClass cabins feature Cashmere Collection bedding and mattresses and integrate spa elements. The rooms provide occupants with priority seating in the AquaClass restaurant and unlimited access to Persian Garden within the AquaSpa.

Concierge Class staterooms are furnished with Cashmere Collection bedding, mattresses and bathrobes. The rooms offer a pillow menu, as well as priority check-in and check-out services.

Dining and entertainment facilities aboard the Edge-class vessel

The cruise ship houses a rooftop garden, which offers cocktails and gourmet burgers, as well as a barbecue at the Rooftop Garden Grill. Guests can enjoy live musical performances and an interactive fusion of food and film.

Dedicated for Suite Class guests and Captain’s Club Zenith members, the ship’s Retreat Lounge features a large-screen TV and reading areas, and serves continental breakfast and complimentary pre-dinner drinks in the evening. Special concierge service enables guests to book specialty dining and shore excursions.
