Maritime SaaS software provider OrbitMI has launched Vessel Reporting Analysis, a new assessment service intended to help shipowners and operators determine how closely their vessel reports adhere to industry standards.
The service seeks to pinpoint data gaps that can influence compliance, operational efficiency, and the accuracy of performance and emissions records.

As the maritime sector relies more on accurate data for compliance, chartering, operations, and commercial decisions, consistent vessel reporting has become increasingly important, said OrbitMI.
It also noted that even minor discrepancies in noon reports can delay compliance procedures, increase manual workload, and undermine optimisation models.
The Vessel Reporting Analysis includes a review of noon reports, voyage information, fuel records, and essential operational fields.
It also compares existing reporting practices with the Operational Vessel Data (OVD) standard and provides a summary highlighting any missing or inconsistent data.

OrbitMI said that the service provides insight into how standardised data supports both compliance obligations and operational decision‑making.
OrbitMI chief product officer Alexandre Lapointe said: “The maritime industry is entering what we call the Connected Maritime Era—where ship and shore think together through shared data and intelligent, connected workflows. In this environment, vessel reports are more than a daily requirement.
“They connect onboard systems, cloud platforms, partners, and the decisions that operators must make in real time. High-quality data builds trust across the voyage lifecycle, and addressing even small gaps can reduce friction and lead to better decisions.
“This assessment helps operators understand exactly where improvements will deliver value.”
In August this year, OrbitMI announced the acquisition of Gale Force, a maritime advisory services firm engaged in voyage optimisation, environmental compliance, and voyage execution support.
This acquisition is aimed to further OrbitMI’s mission of delivering a comprehensive platform tailored to the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
