Wärtsilä has been contracted to deliver its generating sets for installation on Norway-based Siem Offshore’s two new well intervention vessels.
As part of the order, the company will hand over eight 6-cylinder in-line Wärtsilä 32 generating sets for each ship. The sets are designed to deliver economic fuel consumption.

In order to meet the International Maritime Organization ‘s Tier III environmental regulations, the company will fit each generating set with a selective catalytic reduction catalyst to clean the exhaust and nitrogen oxide emissions.
The company will begin deliveries of its equipment in May 2015.
Wärtsilä Ship Power Germany general manager Matthias Becker said: “Wärtsilä has a long and successful track record in working together with both FSG and Siem Offshore and we are again honoured to have been selected to supply solutions that are critical to the successful operations of these vessels.”
“The Wärtsilä 32 engines are the most suitable for this project due to their overall performance in terms of fuel consumption, emissions, weight and size,” Becker said.

By GlobalDataThe 158m-long vessels, being built by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft, will be delivered in 2016.
Upon delivery, the vessels will be used for operations in Brazilian waters to maintain offshore oil wells and to secure the oil flow and availability of the well.
