French company GTT has been awarded a contract by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding to design liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks for two new vessels.

The vessels are set to feature two dual-purpose units, which will be able to operate as both LNG carriers and floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).

Each vessel will feature 174,000m³ of storage capacity.

The carriers will be constructed at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s yard in Shanghai, China, and will be owned by Dynagas upon delivery.

Both vessels are set to be completed by 2021.

Norwegian Company Skangas, and Netherlands-based Titan LNG have signed a memorandum of agreement to collaborate on the development of a single-stop LNG bunkering solution for the benefit of ship operators.

The agreement is intended to make LNG available for Skangas’ marine customers across the wider European region, as well as optimise the company’s delivery services.

OSM Maritime Group has secured a contract from Danish firm Lauritzen Kosan to offer crew management services for its complete fleet of liquefied gas tankers.

The contractor is slated to begin providing crew management services for 26 refrigerated ethylene, semi-refrigerated and pressurised gas carrier units from December 2017 under the arrangement.

Royal Caribbean International (RCL) has awarded a contract to ABB to supply fuel cell systems, which are to be used to power a luxury cruise ship.

The ABB Marine & Ports-developed fuel cell system will be able to generate approximately 100kW of energy.

It will be fitted on-board the vessel under a new pilot project featuring control, converter and transformer technology from ABB.
