German company Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesselschaft & Co.KG (FSG) has won a €165.2m deal from Irish Continental Group (ICG) to build a new cruise ferry.

The vessel will be designed to accommodate 1,800 passengers and crew, and will feature capacity for 5,610 freight lane metres to carry 330 freight units per voyage.

It is intended to replace the routes currently served by MV Ulysses in the Irish Sea.

The 67,300t-capacity ferry will be equipped with 152 passenger cabins and will have a speed of 22.8k.

New emissions scrubber technology and ballast water systems will also be installed on the vessel in order to meet current and upcoming environmental regulations, as well as deliver optimal fuel consumption rates and reduce related costs.

It will offer bars, restaurants and special provisions for premium Club Class passengers, including a dedicated lounge featuring private access directly from the vehicle decks.

A range of entertainment options and cinemas, and dedicated facilities for freight drivers, as well as many retail outlets will also be included on-board the vessel.
