Multi-Link Terminals (MLT) has placed an order to purchase a large ship-to-shore (STS) crane from Konecranes.

Scheduled to be delivered next year, the crane will feature 48m of railspan, and 31m of lifting height.

The crane will have an outreach of 40m and a backreach of 20m, as well as include a single-lift spreader and include various features such as ship profiling, container positioning, and TRUCONNECT remote monitoring.

Following delivery, the crane will be deployed at MLT’s terminal in the port of Helsinki, Vuosaari, Finland.

It will be used to place, pick and stack containers within its legs, as well as feed containers out into the container yard and trucks from its backreach.

In addition, the crane will allow MLT to handle larger vessels, including the LNG-powered container ships to be deployed by Containerships on its intra-Baltic routes this year.

Last month, Konecranes announced the delivery of two of its Gottwald Model 6 Mobile Harbor Cranes to Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) in Sweden.

The four-rope grab cranes have been used to handle scrap and dry bulk materials in the port.

They provide a maximum lifting capacity of 125t, an outreach of up to 51m and an improved grab curve.
