Global classification society Bureau Veritas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singapore-based Ascenz to offer ship performance and monitoring solutions to shipowners worldwide.

Bureau Veritas will now be able to offer Ascenz’s Shipulse solution under the deal, which provides real-time ship performance and monitoring information.

Shipulse is designed to capture and relay critical shipboard data to provide insights for better decision making, fuel savings and optimised vessel performance.

The solution compiles a variety of data such as fuel consumption and bunkering activities, as well as information regarding the vessel's engine, hull and propeller performance.

Bureau Veritas is expected to market Shipulse across its network to provide complementary services and tools based on ship-modelling capabilities and data analysis.

Additionally, the company will be able to integrate its software with the Shipulse system, including weather-routing and trim-optimisation tools.

The Carbon Comply module that is featured in Shipulse supports the European Union Monitoring, Reporting, Verification (EU MRV) regulation by facilitating the automated monitoring and reporting of ships' carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

In addition, CarbonComply is capable of detecting and classifying different voyage stages, covering sea passages, manoeuvring and drifting. It is also able to identify whether a ship is moored or anchored.

Bureau Veritas introduced a new e-business solution known as My BWMP last week, which is designed to assist the shipping industry in meeting the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) Ballast Water Management deadline.
