Sener engineering and technology Group has signed a contract with China-based Hin Lee Shipyard to incorporate the former’s shipbuilding CAD / CAM System Foran.

Under the contract, Sener will install the Foran System, including the hull forms, general arrangement and naval architecture, hull structure, automatic nesting, machinery and outfitting, electrical design, build strategy, and drafting.

Foran has been designed and developed for all types of ships and other floating units. It is a fundamental tool in the reduction of costs and the improvement of productivity in the design and construction of vessels.

The system is applicable to all types of ship, regardless of their size, and can be fully tailored to the particular requirements of each user.

Hin Lee managing board Simon Lo expects that the incorporation of Foran will benefit the shipyard by reducing costs through means of its open database structure, which facilitates the transfer of information between technical and corporate information systems, ensuring the highest connectivity of the system with the management areas of the shipyard.

An overall enhancement of the product quality is also expected, following the incorporation of the technology with reduced rework, reduction of scrap and margins, fewer instances of material shortages, and lower cost levels of delays and disruptions.

Last month, Sener was also contracted by Chinese shipyard DSIC to implement Foran into its fleet.
