STX France has officially started the construction of Royal Caribbean International’s fourth Oasis-class cruise ship at its shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.

Royal Caribbean awarded the order for the fourth vessel to STX France shipyard in May last year.

The unnamed Oasis-class ship is slated to be delivered in spring 2018.

The vessel will feature a split superstructure design, 16 decks with 2,700 staterooms, an 82ft-long zipline, a hand-crafted carousel, the Rising Tide elevating bar, the AquaTheater high-diving performance venue and a Central Park with more than 12,000 live trees and plants.

Additionally, it will offer facilities such as twin FlowRider surf simulators, cantilevered whirlpools, an ice-skating rink and the H2O Zone kids aquapark.

Passengers are expected to benefit from the Royal Promenade, an interior boulevard with restaurants, lounges and boutiques, among others.

Royal Caribbean International’s third Oasis-class cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas, completed its exterior construction at the STX shipyard in July this year.

Harmony of the Seas is expected to be delivered in early 2016.

Royal Caribbean’s first Oasis-class vessel, Oasis of the Seas, was delivered in 2009 and the second ship, Allure of the Seas, started operating in October 2010.

The cruise line operates 23 cruise ships to the most popular destinations in Bermuda and the Caribbean, Europe, Canada and New England, Alaska, South America, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand.
