UK-based ship-to-ship transfer company SafeSTS has entered into a joint venture agreement with Harbour Marine Services, to establish its foothold in the Korean market.
Following the SafeSTS’ establishment of base in Nagasaki, Japan late last year, the joint venture agreement is said to replicate the company’s attempt for a global footprint.

Harbour Marine Services is based in Port of Yeosu and is owned and operated by Captain Charle Ha, fully licensed by the Port of Yeosu for ship-to-ship (STS) operations. It is also an authorised ship agent.
The first operation under the agreement, which involved STS transfer of clean products, took place during the last week of March, and was claimed to have been completed without any incidents.
SafeSTS managing director Yvonne Mason said: "We are committed to raising the safety standards of ship-to-ship transfer with health and safety being at the forefront of all activities.
"Since 2010 the company has transferred over 300 million barrels of cargo with no spills."
