Washington-based luxury cruiseline company Seabourn has signed a contract with Fincantieri, Italy, for the construction of a new all-suite cruise vessel. The 40,350t vessel will be based on the company’s flagship vessel, Seabourn Odyssey, but will have one extra deck and larger public areas.
With an anticipated carrying capacity of 604 guests, the vessel will be designed to maintain Seabourn’s high space per guest ratio.

Each suite in the luxury vessel will have a private veranda and one staff member per guest service.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery in mid 2016 and will replace the Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend liners, which will be transferred to new owners in April this year, April 2015 and May 2015, respectively.
Seabourn president Richard D. Meadows said the new ship will continue Seabourn’s fleet expansion, adding modern design elements and innovations consistent with the company’s reputation for understated elegance.
“With its delivery, the most highly-rated cruise line in the world will also offer travellers the newest fleet of ships in the luxury segment,” Meadows said.

By GlobalDataFincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono said the addition of Seabourn to their customer base means that they are now building ships for all the operators in the ultra-luxury segment.
“This gratifying result, which gives us cause to be optimistic about the future, is the product of the cultural renewal being pursued with determination at every level of our business activity,” Bono said.
