Digital maritime company RightShip has signed an agreement with ZeroNorth to share emissions data across both of their platforms.

The cross-platform partnership will see RightShip’s greenhouse gas (GHG) 2.0 Rating and Safety Score combined with ZeroNorth’s advanced CII Emissions Analytics solution to allow users to receive a “comprehensive view” of their environmental performance.

RightShip CEO Steen Lund said: “Collaboration will be essential in ensuring we can achieve a decarbonised future for the sector, and this partnership is going to support our customers in improving their environmental performance through transparency.”

The collaboration is designed to support maritime companies as they navigate the growing number of regulations mandating ship owners to cut their emissions, including the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme, which was expanded to include shipping in January.

The combination of data services is one of many platforms offering emissions-focused solutions in recent years, with ZeroNorth previously signing similar partnerships including one with energy company Vitol to share information on carbon reduction

Nicolai Bendixen, managing director of charter for ZeroNorth, said: “Together, we are empowering charters, owners, and all stakeholders in the maritime value chain with immediate, actionable insights into the emission profiles of vessels.”

RightShip’s GHG 2.0 Rating provides a grade of A to E for individual commercial vessels based on their efficiency and combines a range of values to measure a vessel’s efficiency against similar ships.

Similarly, ZeroNorth’s CII Emissions Analytics outlines fleet and vessel performance against the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) Carbon Intensity Indicator ratings system, alerting operators when a vessel may become non-compliant.
