Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) subsidiary Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam (DSAm) has completed maintenance works on vessels Marco Polo and Megellan, which are operated by UK-based Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV).
DSAm project manager Wouter van den Bossche inspected Marco Polo during its initial docking period at the yard.

Bossche said: “After examining the vessel, we scheduled various equipment overhauls and repainting.
“Our first task was to completely high-pressure clean the hull and then paint the flat bottom and vertical sides of the renowned ‘Marco Polo’ blue.
“The topside of the vessel was painted at a later stage, which became the critical path for undocking.”
Marco Polo’s main propeller and bow thruster blades were polished, and the main engine cooler jacket was removed and replaced with a new jacket made at the yard as part of the equipment maintenance work.

By GlobalDataDSAm also carried out additional maintenance, renewal and upgrade works in the vessels’ public areas and cabins, as well as the air conditioning and evaporator rooms.
Various seawater and freshwater piping areas were also renewed, and maintenance included overhauling of the overboard valves. DSAm also carried out work on the vessel’s rudder.
Magellan underwent an initial inspection by DSAm, which was followed by the polishing of starboard propeller blades and repairs to the bow and stern thruster blades of the vessel.
A new sewage tank system was also installed and new foundations for the new sewage treatment units and strainers were built on the ship.
