Danish tanker operator Maersk Tankers is launching a new chemical tanker pool in October as it expands its service offerings.

The company, a separate brand to shipping giant Maersk, said its new ‘Maersk Tankers Chemicals’ pool would begin on 1 October and bring together J19 vessels from its existing partners.

While the carrier did not detail how many vessels would be included in the pool, its fleet list currently includes five J19s, stainless-steel chemicals tankers with a capacity between 19,000DWT and 22,500DWT.

Maersk Tankers said: “With no minimum commitment period and flexible redelivery terms, the new Chemical Pool offers a seamless onboarding process and a fair and transparent earnings model.”

The J19 pool becomes the tenth such offering from Maersk Tankers, joining the company’s Suezmax, Aframax, Panamax, LR2, LR1, MR, Handy, Intermediate, and City pools.

Founded as its own company in 2017 after Maersk sold the brand to A P Moller Holdings, Maersk Tankers has since become a notable name in the industry in its own right, further expanding its presence through a merger with Penfield Marine earlier this year.
