Switzerland-based Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) has signed an agreement with Greece’s ship performance monitoring specialist Propulsion Analytics to jointly develop an improved diagnostics system for its two-stroke diesel and dual-fuel engines.

The collaborative project will develop software solutions for processing and evaluating data gathered from on-engine sensors.

The resulting data will then be processed in a digital controlling, monitoring and diagnostic systems.

Once developed, the system will provide digital technologies to the shipping sector, and improve both operational efficiency and crew decision-making processes related to the main engine.

The company further noted that the proposed diagnostics system will optimise engine performance in all aspects, including fuel consumption, power, and emissions.

The system will also allow shipowners to have an integrated planning and online spare parts purchasing procedure.
