Norway-based TTS Group has delivered the first of four shipsets comprising deck equipment to Shanghai Shipyard, part of China State Shipbuilding (CSSC).

The newly delivered equipment will be installed on a 28,000dwt multi-purpose, heavy-lift vessel owned by China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO) and currently under development at Shanghai Shipyard.

The TTS machineries to be fitted on the COSCO vessel include heavy-lift cranes, as well as two combined windlass/automatic mooring winches and two automatic mooring winches.

The company noted that each of the four vessels under construction by Shanghai Shipyard will be equipped with two heavy-lift cranes of TTS NMF type DK II with 350t capacity, and one TTS NMF type DK II with 100t lifting capabilities.

Once completed, all four vessels will be used by COSCO to expand its fleet.

COSCO currently operates eight identically constructed vessels with a total lifting capacity of 700t in various operations.

TTS Group further stated that the deal to provide the cranes was implemented by a new joint venture, TTS SCM Marine and Offshore Machinery (TTS SCM), formed by TTS NMF and South China Marine Machinery (SCM) in 2015.

In March last year, TTS’s marine division secured a contract to deliver a new linkspan to Stena Line’s terminal in Europoort.

The linkspan will be used to bridge the rolling cargo between shore and ship.
