Marlink has extended its multi-band communication networks on the first of four new Stena Line vessels under Stena-Line closed user group (CUG) service.

With the new installation, Marlink intends to provide high levels of connectivity for passengers and crew, as well as operational applications and commercial businesses on-board the entire fleet of Stena Line.

In June last year, Marlink added three times more bandwidth to the Stena-Line closed user group (CUG), improving the ferry operator’s on-board connectivity services.

Marlink maritime president Tore Morten Olsen said: “Always at the leading-edge of maritime communication services, Stena Line has proven itself as one of the most forward thinking ship-owners in the world.

“We’re delighted to add four more vessels to the Stena Line CUG, helping them to meet the communication needs of even more passengers.”

Stena Line currently sails more than seven million people a year.

Last month, Germany-based ship operator NSC-Group selected Marlink to provide high bandwidth maritime VSAT to its fleet of 60 vessels.
