In April this year, PSA Marine is planning to bolster its training facilities by installing advanced simulators from Kongsberg Digital, including a full mission Class A bridge simulator and a full mission Class A tug bridge simulator.

These advanced systems will engage harbour pilots in hyper-realistic scenarios tailored to Singapore’s unique maritime conditions, allowing them to practice managing dense traffic, new vessel types, and emergency responses in a risk-free training setting.

Kongsberg Digital maritime simulation managing director Are Follesdal Tjonn said: “Our simulation technology bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, preparing PSA Marine’s harbour pilots to excel in an evolving industry.

“Together, we will gain experience and set a new benchmark for maritime pilot training and innovation.”

PSA Marine provides integrated marine services, including pilotage and towage, serving the ports and terminals, oil and gas, shipping, and renewable energy sectors.

The company is responsible for piloting more than 180,000 vessels annually in the Port of Singapore, the world’s top container transhipment hub.

PSA Marine managing director Er Wei Lim said: “We are excited to partner with Kongsberg to fortify our operational and training competencies towards safer and more efficient navigation.

“The collaboration underscores our commitment to innovation and excellence, empowering our people with the advanced technologies and skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape.”

Last month, Kongsberg Maritime signed a deal to design and supply integrated equipment for six hybrid platform supply vessels (PSVs) ordered by Dutch-Brazilian group Compagnie Maritime Monegasque (CMM) in Brazil.

CMM secured the contract after ranking highest in Petrobras’ tender for 5,000dwt multipurpose PSVs.
