This order is the first contract for equipment from Kalmar's DCG80-100 empty container handler range, which was launched in Munich in November.

"It is important that we choose high-quality equipment with modern capabilities that will meet our growing handling requirements."

The order continues the terminal's history of opting for Kalmar's products and service availability.

WienCont Container Terminal, a unit of the Port of Vienna, is a trimodal terminal serving rail, road and inland waterways.

With an annual capacity of approximately 480,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), WienCont is the largest combined transport terminal on the Danube, and its capacity is expected to grow by 3%-5% per year over the next five years.

The handlers, with a 10t capacity, are equipped with options that include a reverse warning system, a tyre pressure monitoring system and the Kalmar Smart Fleet monitoring system, which allows for effective management of container handling operations.

In returning to a fleet of Kalmar-only equipment, WienCont can streamline its maintenance requirements, as the new machines will fall under a current Kalmar service agreement.

This agreement includes two onsite mechanics.

WienCont Container managing director Robert Groiss said: "In order to prepare for the future, it is important that we choose high-quality equipment with modern capabilities that will meet our growing handling requirements. We have chosen Kalmar as the brand to trust for their reliable machines, low downtime, and cost-effective service for our intermodal operations."

These three new Kalmar DCG100-45ED6 container handlers join a fleet of four Kalmar DRF/DRG reachstackers, two Kalmar DRF/DRG empty container reachstackers, one Kalmar DCF100-45E6 empty container handler, one Kalmar DCG70-32E3 container handler, and one Kalmar TT612D terminal tractor.
