The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is joining forces with engineering consultancy RINA to create a technology demonstration centre to advance innovation, digitalisation, decarbonisation, and skills development in the maritime sector.
In this connection, the parties have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Ang Wee Keong, chief executive of MPA, and Carlo Luzzatto, CEO and general manager of RINA, signed the MoU.
The planned technology demonstration centre will be integrated into RINA’s open innovation hub in Singapore.
It will function as a collaborative environment for developing and testing new solutions in maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation.
The initiative is expected to contribute to the validation of remote and smart maritime systems and help accelerate their introduction into operational use.

“By working with international partners like RINA, as well as our local industry and research community, we aim to accelerate the testing and adoption of emerging technologies that will make the sector smarter, safer, and more sustainable.”
Both organisations will work together with Singapore’s research sector to promote the adoption of technologies such as smart ships, low-carbon marine fuels, battery-powered systems, and digital port platforms.
The cooperation is intended to support the evolution of Singapore’s maritime technology landscape while assisting the industry’s move toward streamlined digital operations and reduced emissions.
In addition to technical collaboration, RINA will engage with MPA on workforce development initiatives.
This includes participation in industry manpower programmes and offering education, training, internships, and scholarships to support the preparation of professionals for digital and low-carbon roles in maritime.

In June 2025, Yinson GreenTech signed a memorandum of understanding with the MPA to collaborate on the development of the Maritime Digital Twin (MDT) platform, which utilises real-time operational data to simulate and model Singapore’s port environment.
