Malta-based Mariner Group affiliate Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) has upgraded its operations software to the Navis-engineered N4 version 3.1 terminal operating system (TOS).

Navis N4 is an advanced technology platform that has been designed to boost the terminal capacity to support bigger ships and tighter supply chains, while offering multi-terminal operational visibility and control.

It is embedded with a suite of features that allow it to adapt to the specific requirements involving advanced configuration, customisation and integration, while reducing extra expenditure.

"We are making a big push to have the highest level of automation hardware."

The TOS features a flexible gate functionality that can be configured to allow for a range of operations, including equipment delivery order management, appointments, billing, and a number of protocol activities.

Navis N4’s integration capabilities prompted BCT to upgrade its existing Navis SPARCS TOS to N4, expanding the automated functionality of the terminal. system of BCT.

BCT IT manager and board member Dimity Kiselyev said: "The implementation of N4 is part of a larger project for BCT to utilise the most innovative hardware and software available for terminals.

"We are making a big push to have the highest level of automation hardware, and N4 will enable the customisation options we need to support our automation initiatives."

The N4 also allows customers to monitor data and logistics relating to their cargo in the port, as well linking the N4 3.1 to container weighing systems. This has been designed to help ease the compliance process for Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations.
