Global engineering company FLSmidth has signed a deal worth over €160m with the Russian marine export terminal owner OTEKO-Portservice to provide engineering services and the delivery and supervision of material handling equipment

Under the engineering, procurement and supervision (EPS) contract, FLSmidth will deploy the equipment at the port of Taman on the Russian Black Sea Coast, nearly 1,500km south of the country’s capital city Moscow.

The contract is part of a the development of a new cargo terminal that will be capable of managing rising exports of iron ore, sulphur, coal and fertilisers from various production facilities across the country.

As part of the deal, the equipment that will be supplied by FLSmidth include ship loaders, screening and crushing, railcar unloading, stockyard machines and other conveyor systems.

FLSmidth Minerals Division group executive vice president Manfred Schaffer said: "FLSmidth and Oteko have worked jointly on this project for a long time and have now found a technically and commercially viable solution that allows this project to go ahead despite the headwind from the commodity market.

"It is a good example of how customers can benefit from engaging with FLSmidth early in the development of a project.

The engineering company’s Bulk Material Handling business division in Wadgassen, Germany will be responsible for booking as well as carrying out the order.
