Shiplift serves as a modern alternative for a slipway, a floating dry dock or a graving dry dock.

Structurally, the shiplift is a platform which is hoisted and lowered vertically underwater to lift the ship and brought to the level of the quay.

Under the agreement, PSC who had engineered the Syncrolift technology will deliver their design and engineering knowledge to Damen during the shipyard construction project.

The agreement also includes PSC supply key shiplift components to Damen.

Pearlson Shiplift director Bryan Fraind said: "This includes all the vertical lifting equipment, the hoists, and the wire ropes.

The collaboration is expected to procure benefit for both the companies and foster an optimisation of the design and the construction of the shipyard facilities.

The deal also involves Damen Civil, a part of Damen Shipyards Group, which offers maritime construction services across the world.

The portfolio of Damen Civil includes the entire process of shipyard construction including consultancy and design, civil works as well as the supply of equipment, tools and training.

Damen, earlier this month, was selected by Chile-based towage service provider, SAAMS, to deliver two ASD Tugs 2411.
