Ballast water treatment (BWT) specialist Optimarin has been selected by Atlantis Tankers Group and its management company Armona Denizcilik to incorporate its EX-approved BWT system in ten vessels.
Two vessels which are being built and eight existing vessels in the Turkish managed tanker fleet will be incorporated with the tried and tested Optimarin ballast system (OBS).

The first two systems are expected to be delivered in March and June this year for Atlantis Augusta and Atlantis Alicante vessels.
The rest of the EX-systems are scheduled to be delivered in 2018 / 2019, for retrofitting installation on the existing fleet during special dry dock surveys in 2019 / 2020.
Optimarin specially engineered EX model meets the stringent Zone 1 ATEX requirements, making it suitable for installation on-board a wide variety of tankers carrying flammable or explosive materials.

Atlantis Tankers and Armona Denizcilik are known to ferry cargo including organic and non-organic chemicals, clean and dirty petroleum products and vegetable and lube oils.
In November 2014, Optimarin was selected by the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) to incorporate its BWT system for its new flagship Dr Fridtjof Nansen vessel.
