Chinese shipbuilding group Sinopacific has selected Rolls-Royce to provide power solutions and deck machinery for nine vessels to be built at the company’s Zhejiang Shipyard.
Under the terms of the contract, Rolls-Royce will supply a package of power and propulsion equipment that includes Bergen diesel engines, main and tunnel thrusters, an electrical power system and a deck machinery package for nine SPA80A Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels to be delivered to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

Sinopacific CEO Jiang Qiang said: “The visit of Rolls-Royce senior executives to Sinopacific in 2013 reinforced the relationship between our two companies, as did the provision of Rolls-Royce integrated equipment packages for Sinopacific’s in-house designed SPA150 AHTS series.

Recently, Rolls-Royce secured a contract to supply 12 azimuthing thrusters and a thruster control system for Turkey’s Sanmar Shipyard.
Under the terms of the deal, the shipyard will have the option for an additional 30 thruster units that will be installed on vessels for European and Middle East tug operators.
On exercising the option, the company will be providing propulsion systems for 21 tugboats with bollard pull of 60 to 80 metric tonnes each.
