Brazil’s Port of Acu has selected NEC Corporation’s integrated security systems for installation at its industrial complex.

NEC willan integrated CCTV system, access control equipment, and NEC’s iPASOLINK-based outdoor wireless network.

The new system is expected to be operational by the end of this month.

The Acu Port is located in Sao Joao Da Barra, in the north of the State of Rio de Janeiro, at approximately 120km from the Campos Basin area, where a majority of Brazil’s oil is produced.

The industrial complex, developed by a private Brazilian company Prumo Logistica, consists of an offshore terminal and an onshore terminal.

After prolonged delays and cost overruns, the port of Acubegan began shipments at an iron-ore terminal in October.

The port is expected to start ship-to-ship operations in August 2016 with the natural gas company BG Group using the oil terminal to transfer up to 200,000 barrels of crude oil a day.
