Holland America Line president Orlando Ashford said: "A ship’s construction has many key milestones, and floating it out and moving it to the outfitting dock is especially symbolic.

"The float out represents that we are getting closer to welcoming Koningsdam to our fleet and seeing the ship in the water adds to the excitement among our loyal guests, travel agent partners and employees in anticipation of its arrival."

Koningsdam, a Pinnacle-class ship weighing 99,500t, will be able to accommodate 2,650 guests and 1,025 crew members.

It will include several innovative concepts and new public venues, along with the familiar spaces and amenities featured across the Holland America Line fleet.

The ship will feature several alternative restaurants, including Sel de Mer, a new French seafood brasserie, and a new immersive farm-to-table dinner experience in the Culinary Arts Centre presented by Food & Wine magazine.

In addition, Koningsdam will have a redesigned, casual Lido Market with themed serving stations, as well as a main dining room and favourites such as the Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto Italian restaurant and pan-Asian Tamarind.

Koningsdam is expected to start its maiden voyage in April 2016.
