Queen Victoria

Cunard Line’s Queen Victoria cruise ship has started its 2015 World Voyage following the 20-day refurbishment at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg.

During the revitalisation programme, 2,000 contractors have completed 600,000 man hours around the clock to replace the 215,278ft² of carpet in the passenger areas.

In addition, the project included renewal of all 3,167 mattresses on-board and replacement of more than 19,685ft² of pipe insulation.

The vessel also received nine brand new, single staterooms as part of the programme and around 2,695gal of paint was used.

Cunard North America president Rick Meadows said: "The results of Queen Victoria’s refit are a true testament to Cunard’s ability to respond to passenger input.

MS Queen Victoria is a hybrid design between the Vista-class of Holland America and the Spirit-class of Carnival.

This 294m-long and 36.6m-wide cruise ship was constructed by Fincantieri Maritimo and its maiden voyage took place in December 2007.
