Italian-Swiss shipping company MSC Cruises’s MSC Magnifica vessel has completed its repair and maintenance works at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam.

During the last week of October, Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam received a contract from MSC Cruises to carry out refurbishment works on the ship.

The vessel arrived on 20 October and was berthed at the yard’s largest drydock, which is 307m in length.

As part of the project, Damen carried out extensive steelwork, cleaning, painting and replacement piping along with refurbishing of the rudder system on MSC Magnifica cruise ship.

The 293m-long MSC Magnifica started operations in March 2010 and is capable of accommodating more than 2,500 passengers and 1,000 crew members.

It has a capacity of 95,128t and can cruise at a maximum speed of 22.9k.

With a luxurious MSC AUREA Spa, the cruise ship offers a number of relaxation options from saunas and Turkish baths to fitness centre, beauty salon, Thalassotherapy room, relaxation area and massage rooms.

In addition, it provides a choice of five restaurants, numerous bars, an internet café and cigar lounge.
