ever loading teu container vessel

Evergreen Group has christened its new 8,508 20ft equivalent unit (TEU) L-type container ship Ever Loading, which was built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan.

The new ship is the sixth to be constructed by CSBC at its Kaohsiung shipyard, as part of Evergreen’s fleet renewal programme that started in 2010, and covers construction of a total of 30 L-type vessels.

Ever Loading will be the 26th ship to join the company’s operating fleet and will replace an existing ageing vessel. It will be deployed on the company’s Asia/US West Coast route.

The 334.8m-long, 45.8m-wide container ship features 948 reefer plugs, an alternative marine power, a ballast water treatment system and an electronic-controlled fuel-injection engine to support slow steaming and several additional eco-friendly designs.

“The size of L-class vessels allows them to pass under the Bayonne Bridge and call at New York port, thereby enabling Evergreen to decrease unit costs.”

The new vessel, scheduled for delivery on 29 July, will be owned by Evergreen Marine (UK). The remaining four ships are slated to be delivered by the third quarter of 2015.

The size of L-class vessels allows them to pass under the Bayonne Bridge and call at New York port, thereby enabling Evergreen to decrease unit costs and boost competitiveness in the Asia/US East Coast trade.
