Incat Crowther has delivered a Catamaran patrol vessel built by Marine Engineering Consultants to the Queensland Government.
The 24m-long Reef Ranger will be deployed at Great Barrier Marine Park to perform various operations, including compliance monitoring, park management, diving and research.

Reef Ranger is said to be cost-effective and faster than existing vessels, and will patrol the 348,000km² Great Barrier Reef World Heritage area, according to the Queensland Government.
Commenting on the new vessel, Queensland National Parks Minister Steve Dickson said: “The new boat can operate away from port for 12 weeks, has a range of up to 2,000nm and speeds of up to 25k, plus it can carry up to 28 people on day operations, so it really will give us the freedom to spend more time on those activities that protect the reef and support the tourism industry.”
Reef Ranger features Incat Crowther’s high-volume workboat hull and can cruise between 12k and 20k during patrol work.
Powered by two 670kW diesel engines, the vessel is equipped with solar panels, high R-value insulation, zoned air-conditioning and window blinds and shutters.

The main deck cabin has a wet room, a mess with accommodation for 15 people, a galley and pantry, a lounge area, computer workstations and two twin cabins, while the upper deck features two twin cabins, a bathroom, a power tools store and a cold store.
