Singapore-based Chellsea Group has awarded options to COSCO Shipyard Group for the construction and delivery of four platform supply vessels (PSVs) designed by Rolls-Royce.
The latest contract will cover the number of integrated design and equipment packages ordered by COSCO for a total of eight Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP PSVs, and it includes the option for a further two vessels.

Under the contract, Rolls-Royce will deliver a range of services, including ship design, an extensive integrated systems package, as well as MTU-engines, propulsion systems, power electrical systems, bulk handling systems, deck machinery, automation and control systems.
Additional equipment deliveries as part of the order include a dynamic positioning system that uses satellite technology to automatically maintain a vessel’s position without anchoring.
Rolls-Royce sales and contract offshore vice-president Ronny Pål Kvalsvik said: “We have developed a very good relationship with COSCO and Chellsea, and are of course extremely pleased that they have reaffirmed their confidence in both us and the UT-design with this latest contract.”
The first four vessels are currently under construction, whereas the remaining four are scheduled to be handed over between the second quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017.
