Ship and offshore classification society DNV GL has embarked on a new concept project, which is aimed to develop a new LNG carrier.
As part of the project, DNV GL will lead a team of experts from across the industry, including GTT, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and GasLog.

Each of them will contribute their experience and knowledge in developing a LNG carrier that will be better suited to future trading patterns than existing vessels.
The new LNG carrier would also be developed with the aim to significantly improve the environmental footprint and be more energy efficient.
Additional focus areas of the project will include the latest technology advances in cargo containment and propulsion efficiency, as well as on improving the environmental performance.
Commenting on the project, DNV GL project manager Martin Davies said: “Recent technological developments make this a good time to look forward to a new generation of ships.

Work on the project is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
