Netherlands CoCo Yachts has delivered a new Coastal Cruiser 200 high-speed passenger ferry, known as Peng Xing 15, to China’s Peng Xing Shipping Company.

The new ferry is the first of two ships in the series and has been designed to offer fuel savings of 20%, even when travelling at high speed and fully loaded. It will be delivered and built by AFAI Southern Shipyard.

The CCS-classified, high-speed passenger ferry is 40m long, has a 9.3m beam, full load draft of 1.2m, and can cruise at a full load maximum speed of 32.8k. It can accommodate a crew of eight and 200 passengers.

The new ferry has been designed to Peng Xing Shipping’s requirements, capable of reaching a contract speed of 31.5k powered by only two 1,080kW installed power. Additionally, the ship had to be designed to consume 15% less fuel compared to similar vessels.

The vessel is equipped with a sea water cooled split unit air-conditioning and heating system, and will fit 163 economy seats on the main deck aft, 28 business class seats on the fore, two VIP cabins for five persons each and two four-person crew cabins on the upper deck.

The wheelhouse offers a 360° free view outside and can accommodate four crew members. The CCTV system provides inside views and outside views.

Peng Xing Shipping has also placed orders for a further three CoCo Yachts ferries that will be built with a slightly different design.
